Jane Lee Murray

Jane Lee Murray, 67

MIDDLETOWN - Jane Lee Murray, of Middletown, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 19, 2008, surrounded by her family. She was 67.

Born in Wilmington and raised in Townsend, she was the daughter of the late Eunice and Albert Lee.

She graduated from Middletown High School in 1958.

Mrs. Murray was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker and seamstress.

She was a lifelong member of Immanuel Methodist Church in Townsend, where she served as a trustee, and on many committees over her years of service.

She was a charter member of the Townsend Women's Club, where she also chaired many committees over the years, helping to establish the educational scholarship fund.

She was one of the founding members of the Immanuel Church Relay for Life team.

Through the sale of beaded bracelets made by the team, Jane helped to raise more than $200,000 for cancer research.

She enjoyed the company of many St. Andrew's School students and employees, working as a driver for the past 10 years.

Jane also worked at the Board of Elections for 47 years.

She spent many happy hours in the company of her friends, playing bridge, quilting, and "red hatting."

She loved life and gave freely and joyfully of her time and skill to everything that caught her interest.

Her husband and grandchildren were the joys of her life.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 49 years, Bruce B. Murray; three children, Debbie Murray-Sheppard and her husband Rick of Wilmington, Scott Murray and his wife Kim Oxenrider Murray of Boulder City, Nev., and Timothy Murray and his wife Amy Friday Murray of Middletown; her seven grandchildren, Brie, Brooke and Bryce Sheppard, Ryan and Shaun Murray, Patrick O'Haire, and Tyler Murray; a sister, Nancy Whitlock; and a twin brother, James Lee and his wife Carole.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday in Immanuel Methodist Church, 209 W. Main St., Townsend.

Family and friends may visit from 7-9 p.m. Sunday in the Daniels and Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, 212 N. Board St., Middletown.

Interment will follow at Townsend Cemetery.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Jane's memory to Immanuel Methodist Church Trustees, 209 W. Main St., Townsend, DE 19734; or to the Immanuel Church Relay for Life Team, c/o Karen Clark, 259 Blackbird Forest Road, Smyrna, DE 19977.

Kortland V. Short

LAUREL - Kortland V. Short Albino died on Tuesday, March 18, 2008, in an accidental drowning. He was 1 year and 9 months old.

Kortland is survived by his mother, Joy Adams; his father, John Albino; his stepfather, Douglas Short II; a sister, Kyilah Adams; maternal grandmother, Brenda Russ and her husband Nathaniel of Seaford; maternal grandfather, Jeff Baker of Seaford; stepgrandparents, Jeff and Donna Adkins of Laurel; maternal great-grandmothers, Helen June of Seaford and Nancy Murphy and her husband Ernest of Laurel; paternal grandmother, Luz Lopez of Laurel; maternal great-grandparents, Kay and Joseph Baker of Las Vegas, Nev.; maternal stepgrandparents, Richard and Elizabeth Polk of Seaford; and his aunts, Cristell Russ and Brenae Russ of Seaford.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the Church of God, Stein Highway and Arch Street, Seaford, where friends may call one hour prior.

Burial will be in Blades Cemetery.
