James 'Malcom' Scott, 53
CAMDEN - James "Malcom" Scott, of Camden, completed his course of life, after 53 years on Saturday, May 23, 2009, at Kent General Hospital in Dover surrounded by family. Malcom was born on Jan. 30, 1956, in Dover, to Lawon Marie Scott and the late James Coolidge Scott. He was the fourth of five children and the only son. Malcom attended Caesar Rodney High School in Camden. Malcom accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in February 1981. He was an active member of Zion AME Church in Camden, Delaware, from 1981 to 2003. In 2003, Malcom joined Byrd's AME Church in Clayton, currently under the leadership of Reverend Karl Stevens. Malcom served as Vice President of the Usher Board and Superintendent of the Sunday School at Byrd's AME Church, and also served for several years as Marshal for the Unit 3 Usher Association. Malcom had a servant's heart. He was faithful and dedicated to his family and friends. Malcom's favorite scripture was John 14:1-3, "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also." His favorite hymns were "Jesus Keep Me Near the Cross," "Blessed Assurance" and "I Will Do A New Thing In You." Malcom loved people. He enjoyed visiting, talking on the phone, making people laugh, and dressing up in fine suits – everything had to match. He liked going to games and watching sports on TV. His favorite teams were the Philadelphia Eagles, Seventy-Sixers and Phillies. But most of all, he loved going to church, ushering, and coordinating church programs. He leaves to cherish his mother, Lawon Scott of Camden; four sisters, Aleathea Scott, Milford, Theresa "Tessie" (Kenneth) Tribbett, Wilmington, Sharon Cephas, Milford, and Doris Maxine (James) Thompson, Upper Marlboro, Md.; one niece, Tracy (Chris) Spriggs, Middletown; two nephews, Reverend Carlton (Larveania) Bowers, Jr., Milford, and Robert Harris, Jr., Milford; 12 great nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles, and a host of cousins and loving friends.
