OCEAN VIEW - James Patrick Sullivan of Ocean View, formerly of Seabrook, Md., passed away peacefully Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, in Harbor Healthcare, Lewes. He was 79.

Mr. Sullivan was born March 16, 1927, in Cumberland, Md., son of the late Patrick J. and Leota (Beal) Sullivan.

He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army.

He was a naval oceanographer for the U.S. government. He traveled throughout Europe and South America and went to Russia as part of a scientific exchange.

He also loved fishing and tending to his vegetable gardens and rose bushes.

Mr. Sullivan was a member of St. Ann"s Catholic Church, a member of the Mason Dixon Post 7234, Ocean View and the American Legion Post 24, Dagsboro.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Antoinette (Laukaitis) Sullivan; two children, Kathleen Sullivan of Gambrills, Md., and James M. Sullivan and wife Stacey of Odenton, Md.; five grandchildren, Shannon Coven, Kristina Lynch, Kathleen Quinn, Jason Baines and David John "D.J." Baines; two great-grandchildren, Dominik Lynch and Adrianna Lynch; two sisters, Jo Ann Strock of Ellicott City, Md., and Patricia Rowland of Louisville, Ky.; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Ann"s Catholic Church, Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach, where friends and family may call Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, West Avenue.

Interment will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Children"s Cancer Foundation, 1052 Flagtree Lane, Baltimore, MD 21208; or the Sussex County Paramedics.
