DOVER - James Nelson Sr. was born on Sept. 24, 1927 in Summerville, N.C. to the late Ada Mae Nelson. James departed this life on Monday, March 14, 2016. He was also preceded in death by his son, James Nelson Jr., and step-son, Richard Jones, Sr. Mr. Nelson proudly served his country in the United States Navy for many years. After receiving an honorable discharge, he worked for Easton State Construction until retirement. He was a member of the "Thunder Guard" Motorcycle Club, and loved riding with his fellow members. He was affectionately known to all as "Super Chicken." He enjoyed fishing, shooting pool, and hanging out with his friends, telling stories about the "Good Old Days." He met and married his beautiful wife, Marjorie after meeting outside on her front porch. They were blessed with 31 years together. James leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Marjorie Nelson; daughter, Norma of N.Y.; four step-children, Eric Jones and his wife Taja, of Dover, Alonzo Jones, of Dover, Keith Jones and his wife Rosa, of Frederica, and Perry Jones, of Dover; daughter-in-law, Yolanda Jones, of Dover, sister-in-laws, Linda McCoy and her husband Greg, of Dover, and Jonnie-Mae Henson; brother-in-laws, Bobbie and his wife, Sharon Martin, of Dover, and Ronald Martin, of Dover; 25 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; special friends, Chris, Macky, and Joe; and a host of nephews and nieces. A Homegoing Service will be held on Monday, March 21, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, Delaware 19934, where friends may view from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Committal services are private. Letters of condolences can be sent via www.pippinfuneralhome.com
