HENDERSON, Md. - James J. Tuneff of Henderson died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006, in Caroline Nursing Home, Denton. He was 75.
Born on Long Island, N.Y., Mr. Tuneff was the son of the late Jordan and Mary (Gniecko) Tuneff.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force. He was the chief mechanic of the support team for the Navy's Blue Angels from 1950 until 1953. He was discharged from the Navy in 1958 and then retired from the Air Force in 1960 as a staff sergeant.
After his discharge from the service, Mr. Tuneff became a self-employed long distance truck driver. He then became a security guard for Bennett Security, retiring in 2001.
He was a member of the Caroline American Legion Post 29.
Mr. Tuneff owned horses and belonged to the U.S. Trotting Association.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Tuneff.
He is survived by a son, Richard Tuneff of Denton; a daughter, Terri Tuneff-White of Indianapolis; a sister, Barbara G. Bratton of Easton; two grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved dog, Skipper.
Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Saturday in Denton Cemetery, Meeting House Road.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Caroline Hospice Foundation, PO Box 362, Denton, MD 21629; or the Caroline Humane Society, 407 W. Bell St., Ridgely, MD 21660.
