BETHANY BEACH - James J. Sheehan of Bethany Beach, formerly of Alexandria, Va., passed away Monday, March 5, 2007, in Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury. He was 75.

James was born in Wilkes Barre, Pa., son of the late James J. and Margaret (Moran) Sheehan.

He was a retired attorney for the U.S. Patent Office in Washington.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Maria Laura de Arteaga from Montevideo, Uruguay; four daughters, Maria Stack and her husband Greg, Margaret Sheehan and her husband Andres Soulas, Catherine Crider and her husband Jerry, and Patricia Erickson and her husband Kevin; 11 grandchildren, Laura, Anna and Victoria Stack, Alexander, Sofia and Lucas Soulas, Kelsey, Matthew and Christopher Crider, and Gabriel and Nathaniel Erickson; a beloved sister, Margaret Sheehan Polli and her husband Gerald of Ocala, Fla.; and six nephews.

A funeral mass will be Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Ann's Catholic Church, Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach. Friends may call today from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Bethany Chapel of Melson Funeral Services on West Avenue in Ocean View.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in memory of James to Delaware Hospice, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE 19947.
