DOVER - Col. James H. Roscoe, Retired, passed peacefully at Christiana Hospital on Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. James was born in Dover on September 3, 1939, son of the late Emma C. and Vroom W. Roscoe, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved stepmother, Eugenia; his brother, Vroom William Roscoe, Jr.; and a special aunt, L. Carolyn Roscoe. He was the honor graduate of the Artillery Advanced course at Fort Bliss Texas. Col. Roscoe was extremely proud of his country and his service. He served two tours in Vietnam as an Army Aviator. Col. Roscoe retired after 38 years of service in the Army National Guard. He and his wife loved singing and traveling together and are members of the Delaware Choral Society. He attended Wesley United Methodist Church and sang in the Choir. Col. Roscoe will be remembered for his loving and generous spirit with a great sense of humor. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Barbara, of 53 years; sister, Catherine; son, James A. Roscoe and his wife Sherry; daughter, Janice Jordan; grandchildren, Carolyn Simpson, and her husband Jake, Bryan, Elyse, and Chrystopher Roscoe. Services will be 12 p.m., Saturday, Decemeber 26, 2015 at the Wesley United Methodist Church, 209 S. State St., Dover in the lower chapel. The family will greet guests for viewing beginning at 10:30 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Wesley United Methodist Church. Letters of condolences can be sent via www.pippinfunerahome.com
