HOUSTON - James 'Big Jim' Edward Byington passed away surrounded by his loving family at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford on Saturday, April 28, 2018.
James was born in Rogersville, Tenn. to the late George and Ola Mae Byington. He was a member of the Fraternal Loyal Order of the Moose #1728 in Seaford. James enjoyed spending his time attending car shows, karaoke, fishing, crabbing, and gardening.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his son, Stevie Howell; brother, Curtis Byington; and niece, Brittany Byington.
James is survived by his loving wife, Linda (Whisman) Byington; his five children, Dawn Byington Lord, her husband Butch, and their two children, Mitchell Lord and Steven Lord; Crystal Chambers, her husband Jack, and their five children, Autumn Byington, Elisha Chambers, Katelyn Chambers, Lilly Byington, and Jack 'JJ' Chambers; Wanda Byington; Rebecca Watkins, her husband Robert, and their five children Kaylin Byington, Makayla Kelley, Mandy Watkins, Sonya Watkins, and Bridget Watkins; and Jack Baull, III. He is also survived by his two sisters, Bernice King and Diane Linkins; his brother, Luther Byington; his great-grandchildren, Danielle Slade and Deangelo Watkins-Burdette, as well as many nieces, and extended family.
A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2018, in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front Street, Milford, DE 19963, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Burial will be private.
