James E. Enfield, 59
GALENA, Md. - James E. Enfield, lost his battle with cancer Wednesday, July 1, 2009, in Christiana Hospital, Newark. He was 59. Jim was born Feb. 17, 1950 in Milford. He was the son of the late Ralph E. and Anna Belle Rogers Enfield. He was a 1967 graduate of Milton High School. Jim served in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1972, including a one year tour of overseas duty in Korea, where he earned the rank of Sergeant. He spent the last 35 years driving a tractor trailer for companies including; TRP Inc., Alger Oil Inc., Ruan, and most recently Wal-Mart in Smyrna. He was a member of the Millington VFW Post 652, American Pool Players Association, and participated in the Wal-Mart Heart program, that was started to help people with chronic medical conditions. He also attended Olivet U.M. Church. Jim enjoyed crabbing, fishing, playing pool, riding his motorcycle, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandmother, Bertha E. Lee; sister, Bertha L. Enfield; three children, Matthew E., and twins Lois Jean and Wilson A.; and grandson, Samuel A. Mullin. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Joan Chance Enfield; a son, Robert James 'B.J.' Enfield and wife Traci of Eunice, Mo.; four daughters, Malinda Jamesina 'Jamey' Mullin and husband Patrick of Landenberg, Pa., Kari Walters and husband Dennis, Christa Conner and husband Jason, and Amanda Simpler, all of Galena; 12 wonderful grandchildren; and a brother, Herman E. Willey. Jim was a loving and caring uncle to many nieces and nephews, including being a Godfather to Danny and Erin McGee. Jim was a great husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, father-in-law, grandfather and friend, he will be missed. A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday, July 12 in Olivet United Methodist Church, S. Main St., Galena. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wal-Mart Transportation, 100 Walton Way, Smyrna, DE 19977, noted for the benefit of Wal-Mart Heart.
