Goriup, 83
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jacqueline (Leonard) Goriup, 83, a devoted mother and exceptional nurse, Monday, March 6, 2023, at Westminster Village. She was born January 4, 1940 in Riverhead, NY the daughter of John H. and Sophie C. (Brozek) Leonard.
Jacqueline will be remembered for her unwavering love and devotion to her family, as well as her tireless dedication to the healthcare profession. She was a beacon of light in her community, and her compassion and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her. Her legacy of kindness, dedication, and selflessness will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Jacqueline was a proud graduate of Albany Hospital School of Nursing, Albany, NY, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Jacqueline's passion for nursing led her to pursue a rewarding neonatal RN career at Kent General Hospital, where she provided exceptional care to countless patients and their families until her retirement in 2001. Jacqueline's compassion, kindness, and expertise made a significant impact on the lives of those she cared for, and her legacy will continue to inspire future generations of nurses.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Richard Goriup, to whom she was married for 45 years. He was the love of Jacqueline's life, and their marriage was a testament to their unwavering commitment to each other. Jacqueline and Richard enjoyed many years traveling the world together. She listed among her favorite destinations Holland, the U.S. National Parks, and Alaska. She often shared that it was important to take time to enjoy life along the way. While Jacqueline will be deeply missed, we take comfort in knowing that she has been reunited with her beloved husband and that they are now together again.
Jacqueline is survived by her sons, Michael Goriup and his wife Anita of Idaho Falls, ID, John Goriup of Magnolia, DE, Timothy Goriup and his wife Kala of Kenosha, WI; three grandchildren, Matthew Goriup of Idaho Falls, ID, Eryn Hribal and husband Matthew of Oshkosh, WI, Delaney Goriup of Appleton, WI; and by her loving sister, Sandy DeHayes of Miller Place, NY.
