HARTLY - Irma J. Thompson passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 82. Irma was born on Feb. 23, 1929, in Havre De Grace, Md., daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Dagg) Dudeck. On Jan. 31, 1948, she married Howard Thompson. Her favorite things were cooking, gardening, playing bingo and the lottery, and dancing. She loved to bake and made beautiful wedding cakes while working at the Blue Coat Inn as their baker. She played bingo for over 20 years at the Hartly volunteer fire company and then the Mamie Warren Senior Center. She always loved music and dancing, and as a young girl danced with her brother Wally, Uncle Doug, cousin Jack and Aunt Vera and many other friends and relatives. When she and Howard married, they shared a love of dancing and went dancing every Saturday night throughout their married life. Their favorite band was the Starlighters. Her garden was her favorite place to be, and canned everything she grew, making the best pickles in town. She enjoyed sitting on her deck, soaking up the sun and riding the golf cart with Terry and enjoyed visiting with family and friends. She will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her husband Howard Thompson in 2005. She is survived by her son, Terry Thompson and his wife Cindy; her daughter, Cathy Moore; a grandson, Philip (Peanut) Moore; a brother, Wallace Dudeck; a special aunt, Helen Dagg; and many special relatives and close friends.
