GEORGETOWN - Ila Mae Myers is at peace and in the presence of her Lord after a courageous battle with cancer for more than two years. She passed away on the evening of Sept. 8, 2016 at Delaware Hospice in Milford. Ila was a resident of Georgetown after moving from New Carrollton, Md., in 1999. Ila was born on Dec. 27, 1942 to William and Allie (Cantrell) Holliday, in Huntsville, Ala. She was the wife of more than 55 years to Paul Myers. Ila was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Geneva Kay; and her grandson, Declan Patrick. She is survived by her husband; daughters, Jan (Darin) Wipperman, of Lancaster, N.H., and Stephanie Gray and her husband, David Potter; a grandson, John Paul Gray, of Pasadena, Md.; as well as four nieces, two nephews and a large extended family. Until her retirement, Ila worked at the University of Maryland, as well as the Epilepsy Foundation of America. After moving to Delaware, Ila was active in Sussex County Master Gardeners and Calvary Baptist Church of Georgetown. She deeply enjoyed gardening, crocheting and investing in the lives of others. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 22860 Dupont Boulevard, Georgetown on Saturday Sept. 17, 2016 at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tunnel Cancer Center in Lewes. Those who would like to make donations should send them to the Beebe Medical Foundation.
