DOVER - Howard A. "Shep" Sheppard, of Dover, died Sunday, July 24, 2011, along with his son. He was 91. Mr. Sheppard was born June 13, 1920, in Barclay, Md., to the late Albert Sheppard and Mary Zebra Sheppard. He had worked for Nap & Spence before going to work for Kent County Court House in the maintenance department retiring in 1987. Mr. Sheppard also owned his own furniture refinishing business, Sheppard & Son Repair. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Bell Sheppard, in 1998; daughter, Arlene Sue Garrett, in 2006; and son-in-law, Ronald Garrett, in 2009. He is survived by his daughter, Judy Hegman and her husband Doug of Little Creek; six grandchildren, Doug Hegman, Jr., Amy Resh, Alicia Hamlin and her husband Kevin, Megan Matherne and her husband Wesley, Michael Garrett and his wife Leanne, and Matthew Garrett; and eight great-grandchildren, Ashely and Jordan Resh, Autumn and Kaleb Hamlin, Tyler and Hayden Garrett, Wesley and Dylan Matherne. Memorial services will be 4 p.m., today, July 29, 2011, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call one hour prior.
