SMYRNA - Homer L. Massie, Jr. passed away at his home on Wednesday, May 9, 2018.
Mr. Massie was born on Aug. 19, 1948 in Wilmington, the son of the late Homer L. Massie, Sr. and Violet (Sexton) Massie.
He was member of Teamsters Local 326 of New Castle for 30 years and drove for Preston Trucking Company.
He loved and adored his wife, children and family and enjoyed traveling to Florida in his RV with his wife, Darlene. One of his real joys in life was when he got to play music. Homer enjoyed playing his guitar and singing in his various bands.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Darlene; his daughter, Shelley Tracey and her husband Lee of Clayton; his son, Brice Massie of Clayton; six grandchildren, Lee (girlfriend Haylee), Layton (fiancée Mehgan), Tyler (Courtney), Garrett, Landrey, and Katie; one great granddaughter, Kendall; his siblings, Randy (Linda), Pam (Eddie), Gail, Tamie, and Guy (Cheryl); and many extended family members.
A viewing will be held on Monday, May 14, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located 29 South Main Street in Smyrna. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m.
Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Smyrna.
