BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — Deion Sanders said he has dismissed a few players from Colorado's football team following their first loss at Northwestern. The school says the process isn't finalized yet and an updated roster will be released later in the week. Sanders, the coach of the Buffaloes, didn't name the players but cited a pattern of behavior as the reason. He emphasized the importance of team conduct and accountability. Defensive back Ben Finneseth apologized on behalf of the team in regard to negative comments caught on video about Northwestern’s temporary stadium. Sanders expressed frustration with the team's penalties and turnovers in the loss. He stressed the need for discipline as they prepare for Saturday's game at Baylor.
UNDATED (AP) — No. 11 Texas Tech is 3-0 for the second straight season, something the Red Raiders haven’t done since a three-season run 13 years ago. This season has a different vibe than last year’s run to the College Football Playoff. The Red Raiders have grinded out wins instead of dominating like they did a year ago. They're still among the Big 12's best teams so far, with No. 9 BYU off to a 3-0 start for the fourth straight season. The conference has six teams still undefeated and every team has a winning record expect Kansas. That will change this weekend with six games between conference opponents.
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska and Miami (Ohio) have moved their 2027 season opener to Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri, on Aug. 27. The Cornhuskers and RedHawks were originally scheduled to play in Lincoln on Sept. 11 but moved the game after the NCAA made changes to the playing calendar allowing schools to start their season a week earlier. Nebraska also began the 2025 season in Arrowhead and defeated Cincinnati 20-17. The Huskers are 2-1 at Arrowhead since 1998.

LSU slipped to No. 10. Texas holds the top spot for the second week, followed by Georgia, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, and Indiana. Louisville made the biggest gain, rising to No. 16. Texas A&M fell to No. 23 after losing to Kentucky.
UNDATED (AP) — The Big 12 has three teams in the top 15 of The Associated Press Top 25 for the first time this season and four ranked in all. No. 9 BYU has its highest ranking since it popped into the top 10 for one week late last season. No. 11 Texas Tech and No. 15 Utah also have their highest rankings of the season. Houston is No. 23 and four other Big 12 teams are receiving votes. The Big 12 is shooting for two teams in the College Football Playoff for the first time.

AMES, Iowa (AP) — Iowa State's men's wrestling program will serve a year of probation and was fined $25,000 after the NCAA ruled a booster had improper contact with two transfers. The NCAA announced that Chris Perry, a regional training center assistant, was the booster involved. The violations occurred in spring 2025 when then-head coach Kevin Dresser communicated with another school's exiting coach about recruiting two athletes. Perry contacted the transfers, who later committed to Iowa State. Additional penalties include recruiting communication bans and suspensions for Dresser, who is now Iowa State's director of men's and women's wrestling.
