Herbert Everett Clendaniel

HARTLY - Herbert Clendaniel entered into the presence of the Lord peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018 at home.
Herbert was born in Frederica on June 15, 1928 to the late George S. Clendaniel, Sr. And Lena Baker Clendaniel.
He served in the U.S. Navy 1951 - 1955 and was stationed in Norfolk, Va. and traveled the East Coast from Greenland to Cuba.
He worked at General Motors in Newport, Delaware for 42 years, from 1951 to his retirement in 1993.
He loved spending time with his children, and family, who all enjoyed his great sense of humor. He was an excellent baseball player and enjoyed hunting, working on cars, and having a garden.
In addition to his parents and six brothers, William, George Jr., Charles, Grier, Paul and Harry Clendaniel, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Gwen Clendaniel Day on Oct. 26, 2017.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Myrtle Gary Clendaniel of Hartly; three daughters, Lori Clendaniel Zimmerman (Dan) of Dover, Juanita Clendaniel of Milford, and Pamela Clendaniel Love (Lewis) of Palm Bay, Fla.; two sons, Herbert Clendaniel, Jr. (Colinda) of Hartly, and Gerald Clendaniel (Cynthia) of Palm Bay, Fla.; son-in-law, Richard Day of Palm Bay, Fla.; grandchildren, David McNatt (Stacey) of Hartly, Shawn Rene Zimmerman and Isaac Zimmerman of Dover, Jeremiah Day and Sarah Day of Palm Bay, Fla., Melissa (Chris) Lucas of Felton, Joshua Clendaniel of Ogden, Utah, Skylar and Cheyne Johnson of Palm Bay, Fla. and Hannah Love of Palm Bay, Fla., Frankie and Chase Love of Weatherford, Texas; great grandchildren, Justin Green, Emily and Addison Lucas of Felton, Gracie and Faith Love of Weatherford, Texas.
He is also survived by two sisters, Mary Mitchell of Lake Wales, Fla. and Salli Dill of Wyoming.
A Celebration of Life Service will take place at Destiny Christian Church at 2161 Forrest Avenue, Dover on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019 at 1 p.m. with visitation at 12 p.m. and a meal following.
Interment is private and will be held at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetary in Millsboro. Arrangements are by Trader Funeral Home Dover.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Destiny Christian Church, 2161 Forrest Avenue, Dover, Delaware 19904
