DOVER - Henry Lee Greene passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021 at his home in Dover, Delaware in the presence of family and friends. He was born in Columbia, North Carolina on April 23, 1937 to Ransom and Elizabeth Greene.
He graduated from O. A. Peay high school in Swan Quarter, North Carolina where he excelled in baseball. On July 2, 1957 he married the former Mary Agnes Simpson. He retired from Sun Oil Chemicals in Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania after 30 years of service as a chemical engineer. He enjoyed playing cards, watching old westerns and wrestling. He was also a devoted Trustee and President of the Transportation Committee at Calvary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by both parents; his brothers, Ransom Jr., LeRoy, Leon, and Lee Thomas Greene; sister, Mary Lee Midgette; and son, Kenneth R. Greene.
Henry leaves to cherish his memory wife, Mary A. Greene; daughter, Carmen "Princess" Kelly (James); sons, Anthony Simpson, Andre (Divina), Henry, Hector, and Darren Greene; six sisters, Ollie Ricks of Chesapeake, Virginia, Evelyn Hopkins of Greeneville, North Carolina, Carrie Lucas of Smyrna, Delaware, Queen Greene of Dover, Delaware, Carolyn and Lucy Greene of Swan Quarter, North Carolina; and one brother, William Greene of Dover, Delaware; 19 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. The family would also like to acknowledge his special caregivers, Lisa Mullen and Katherine Perry; and special friends, Dan Knight, Cleveland Phillips, and Ben Washington.
For those who wish to share their memories and sign the guestbook, a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Calvary Baptist Church, 410 Fulton St. Dover, Del. at 11 a.m., with family viewing two hour prior to service. Please know that COVID 19 protocols will be observed.
