Hazel Ellen Gilroy

DOVER - Hazel Ellen Gilroy passed away Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018 at Silverlake Nursing Home. Mrs. Gilroy was born Dec. 21, 1919 in Exeter Township, Pa. to the late Hayes Harris and Lily Searfoss Harris.
She had worked as an admissions clerk for Wilkes-Barre General Hospital in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. for 11 years. Mrs. Gilroy volunteered at many different organizations, one being "Meals on Wheels" until the age of 90. She had a competitive spirit. Mrs. Gilroy enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund P. Gilroy; sisters, Amanda Murray, Naomi Kavel and Gertrude Walters.
She is survived by her daughter, Jean Harris Gilroy of Frederica; grandchildren, Edmund Gavlick and his wife Jenny, Lee Harris Gavlick and Amanda Gavlick; great grandchildren, Danielle and Aubrey Gavlick; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be private.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Anchor Church, 101 Delaware Veterans Blvd., Milford, DE 19963.
