HARRINGTON - Harry Milton Sullivan Sr., of Harrington, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 84.
Mr. Sullivan was born in Harrington, son of the late Harry M. and Clara Sullivan.
Mr. Sullivan served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during World War II. After the Army, Mr. Sullivan became a truck driver working for several different companies over the years, until his retirement in 1985.
Mr. Sullivan liked vintage automobiles and riding through Harrington.
He enjoyed his community and enjoyed living in Harrington.
He will be remembered as a great husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his family.
Mr. Sullivan was a former member of the Milford American Legion and the Milford Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was a member of the Prospect United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Gladys I. Sullivan of Harrington; sons and daughters-in-law, Harry M. and Kathleen R. Sullivan Jr. of Magnolia and Lawrenceville, Ga., and David Wayne and Donna R. Sullivan of Harrington; sister, Virginia Smith of Harrington; grandchildren and spouses, Trenny L. and Timothy Houck of Ona, W.Va., Tracey S. and Jason Goins of Salisbury, N.C., and Curtis R. and Amanda Sullivan of Harrington; step-grandchildren and spouses, Tracey L. Dickenson of Middletown, L. Kim and David Simpson-Teagues of Sugar Hill, Ga., and Elizabeth A. Riley of Seattle, Wash.; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Highway, Harrington.
Burial will be in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Prospect United Methodist Church, General Fund, 5183 Vernon Road, Harrington, DE 19952.
