MILTON - Harry L. Morrow, Jr., of Milton, formerly of Dover, Del., passed away, Wednesday, April 7, 2021 in the home of his son and daughter in law.
Harry was born May 21, 1925, in Wilmington, to the late Harry L. Morrow, Sr., and Elsie M. Walls Morrow.
Upon graduation from Newark High School in 1943, Harry joined the U.S. Army, and fought in Belgium, France and Germany during WW II. After returning to Delaware, he earned an Associate's Degree in Business at Beacom College. When the Korean Conflict erupted, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps, and served in combat in Korea. After again returning to Delaware, Harry worked for Chrysler Corporation for 38 years, retiring as an Assembly Line Expediter. He started out building tank turrets, and then automobiles at Chrysler.
Harry was an excellent athlete when younger, playing football, baseball and basketball. His High School yearbook in 1943 noted that, "Harry could make the Big League (Baseball) unless the Army gets him first". After returning from the Korean Conflict, Harry played Semi-Pro, and American Legion Baseball in Delaware. Harry continued his love for sports and was a season ticket holder for University of Delaware Football. He was also a very avid fan of the Cleveland Indians Baseball team and his nickname in High School was "Boudreau" named after Cleveland Indian HOF shortstop Lou Boudreau. Harry's strong work ethic was passed to his sons. Harry was a devout man of faith and leaves behind many Christian brothers and sisters. Harry was a wonderful son to his parents, a more terrific father to his children, and a forever friend for everyone he met. His wonderful personality and sense of humor made a lasting impression on everyone that met him, and will forever be missed.
Harry was predeceased by his wife of 42 years, Mary Kell Ayers Morrow; and his son, Brian Van Hecke.
Harry is survived by his sons, Kevin Morrow (Lori) of Milton, Del., Todd Morrow (Rita) of Smyrna, Del.; and Mary's children, Barbara Ayers McGee of West Grove, Pa., Janet Ayers Brown (Jay) of Landenberg, Pa., and James R. Ayers (Carol) of Middletown, Del.; grandchildren, Kyle, Sean, Nathan, Alessandra, Kelly, Beth, Andrea, Mark, Amy, Jessica, and Jacqueline; and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Grace Church (PCA), 350 McKee Road, Dover, DE 19904. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.
