The son of Harold and Goldie Weingard, Dick was born in North East, Pa., one of five children. Upon graduating from North East high school, Dick served his country in the United States Air Force. After four years of service, Dick became a civilian employee of the Dover Air Force Base. Dick volunteered regularly for the Delaware Agricultural Museum and was the Volunteer of the year for the state of Delaware. Dick always had a small garden in his backyard and loved to share any extra produce he grew. A self-taught carpenter, he created many wooden heirlooms and toys. Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Dimity Weingard; his only son, Thomas "Jeff" Weingard; and siblings, Thomas, Alta, and Florence. He is survived by sister, Peggy Schwartz and husband James; step-daughter, Peggy Foor and husband Ron; step-son, Lee Cann and wife Debbie; and daughter-in-law, Barbara Weingard and her husband Robert Donovan. He is also survived by grandchildren, Amanda Kemp, Anthony Cann, Megan Weingard, William Harrison, Erica Cann, Shelby Foor, and Haylee Foor; and great-grandchildren, Adrian, Jasmine, Joelle, Aubree, and Kazcmer. Services will be noon, March 10, at Trader Funeral Home, Dover, where friends may call one hour before the time of the service. Burial will follow at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Delaware Agricultural Museum, 866 North DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901, www.agriculturalmuseum.org; or to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
