Harold E. Harget, 71

MAGNOLIA - Harold E. Harget of Magnolia passed away peacefully Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007, at his daughter"s home in Newark. He was 71.

Mr. Harget, born in Cairo, Ill., on Oct. 24, 1935, was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and worked for 30 years at Chrysler Corp.

His outgoing personality attracted many new members for UAW Local 1183, and Newark Masonic Lodge 24.

Mr. Harget, a four time World Class Champion horseshoe pitcher, started the Delaware First State Horseshoe Club and was their first honoree into the Delaware Horseshoe Hall of Fame.

An emissary of pitching, he was honored with the 2006 NHPA Achievement Award.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Lora Lee Harget of Magnolia; a son, Harold W. Harget of Silex, Mo.; three daughters, Vickie Cox and her husband, Floyd of Frankston, Texas, Gayle Hughes of Newark, and Kimberly Era and her companion, Bryon Cowen, both of Bear; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family is grateful for the care provided by Dr. Himmelstein, Dr. Reyes and Dr. Marco as well as the Red Team of Delaware Hospice.

A celebration of Harold"s life will be noon Monday in R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 W. Main St., Newark.

Burial will follow at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
