Harold E. Fry

HARRINGTON - Harold E. Fry, 87, of Harrington, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, at Kent General Hospital, Bayhealth Medical Center, Dover. Mr. Fry was born in Harrington the son of the late Cloid and Stella (Fickle) Fry. He attended Harrington High School. He worked as a mechanic at the DuPont Nylon Plant in Seaford, for 38 years retiring in 1985. He was member of Prospect United Methodist Church; a life member of the Harrington Fire Company, Station 50, where he served as Past Chief, Past Ambulance Captain and a Past Board of Director. He also represented Harrington Fire Company as a member of the Kent County Fire Chiefs Association and the Delaware State Fire Chiefs Association; was a member of the Harrington Senior Center; and he enjoyed being a member of the First State Antique Tractor Club. Mr. Fry could have been known as Mr. Fix it. It seemed that if you had an item that was broken, he would attempt to fix the problem and usually was successful. He was also an avid collector of stuff. In addition to his parents, Mr. Fry was preceded in death by four brothers Dallas Fry, Orville Pat Fry, Kenneth Jim Fry and Cloid Fry, Jr.; and a sister, Emma Breeding. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Doris (Hanson) Fry; two sons, Barry Fry and his wife Carol of Milford, and Donald Fry and his wife Rita, of Smyrna; one brother, Robert Fry, of Harrington; three grandchildren, Lisa Murray, Renee McCracken and Johnna Fry; three step grandchildren, Ashley Biro, Brandon Biro and Jason Biro; and five great-grandchildren, Ashley Speicher, Tayg Murray, Tanner Murray, John Michael Joseph and Jaelyn Turner. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, at the Harrington Fire Company, 20 Clark Street, Harrington, where friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial with firefighters honors will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Milford - Harrington Highway, Harrington. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Prospect United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 342, Harrington, DE 19952. Arr. by McKnatt, Carpenter & Baker Funeral Home, Harrington.
