Hansel Fuller Sr., 87 LINCOLN - Hansel Fuller, Sr., of Lincoln, departed this life on Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009, at his home. Born on Jan. 1, 1922, in Philadelphia, he was the second of four children born to the late Frank Fuller and Ester Fuller. He was 87. During his youth, he won the Philadelphia Golden Gloves Championship for Boxing. Hansel entered the U.S. Army in 1941, and served during World War II in the Pacific Region as a Demolition Specialist receiving the American Defense Service Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with one Bronze Star, and the World War II Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged in November of 1945 and then moved to Poughkeepsie, N.Y., where he worked at the State Hospital for a number of years. On Aug. 5, 1950 Hansel was united in holy matrimony to Barbara E. Nicholas in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., where they two resided until they later moved to Philadelphia. Together they raised 6 children, three boys and three girls and in 1986 relocated to Millsboro. Hansel worked for 20 years at the Naval Yard in Philadelphia retiring in June of 1973. Hansel was a machinist, welder, a master mechanic, and an excellent carpenter and plumber. He was a long time member of the Colonel Charles Young American Legion Post #68 in Philadelphia and served as the Finance Officer for over 20 years. Hansel had a very strong will and was a proud and determined man who never gave up on anything. He was always there for his children no matter what the situation was and he could be counted on to see it through. His wisdom was priceless both to his children and in some cases, his children's friends. Hansel loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Missionary Baptist Church in Georgetown. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Barbara; and his only brother, Nathaniel Fuller Sr. He leaves to cherish his memory three sons, Hansel Sr. (Georgetown), Glen (Greenwood), and Gregory Sr. (Lincoln); three daughters, Yvonne Dubrey (Philadelphia), Brenda Fuller (Philadelphia), and Dawn Fulrnore (Harrisburg, Pa.); three sisters, Evalina Johnson (Philadelphia), Alberta Fuller (Chicago, Ill.), Veronda Lyles (Philadelphia); 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Sabine and Esther; two sons-in-law, Herbert Dubrey and Booker Fulmore Sr.; and a hosts of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 5, at the St. Johns Second Baptist Church, 26602 Mt. Joy Road, Millsboro, where there will be a viewing from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in Millsboro Cemetery, Millsboro. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook may be signed at
