MILFORD - H. Davis Shockley passed into the arms of his Savior on May 1, 2018 after a short illness with his wife and son at his side. Davis was the son of Harold P. Sr. and Alice (Smoot) Shockley. He was born in Milford and graduated from Milford High School, Class of 1958. Davis served with the National Guard from 1959 to 1966. He retired as the Deputy Secretary of Agriculture from the State of Delaware with 40 years of service. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Milford and the Milford Masonic Temple Lodge No. 9. He was a kind, generous, hard-working man who was first and foremost a family man. He loved having large family gatherings so he could barbeque his "special chicken." His greatest pleasure was spending time with his grandchildren, from taking them on cruises, to attending any function from pre-school to college. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and going to sales. He was an avid collector of what his wife termed "junk." In addition to his parents, Davis was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold P "Buddy" Shockley, Jr. and Richard W. Shockley. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 56 years, Nancy (Kniceley) Shockley; son, Timothy D. Shockley; daughter-in-law, Tina M. Shockley; granddaughter, Lindsay Rebecca Shockley; and grandson, Jason T. Shockley; special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ruth Ann and John Dickerson; brother, John Phillip Shockley and wife, Debbie Shockley; a very special niece, Erika Lippincott and husband, John Lippincott; a special nephew, John Douglas Dickerson; and also his special "family" – The Haggerty's. He will be sadly missed by family, friends, and special furry friends; Maggie, Thomas, and Katie Kat. Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at 12 p.m., with a time of visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Memorial gifts can be sent to Lincoln United Methodist Church, PO Box 85, Lincoln, DE 19960.
