Gina Louise Smith, 46 SEAFORD - Gina Louise Smith, of Seaford, departed this life on Monday, July 21, 2008, in Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md., after a long illness. She graduated from Laurel Senior High School in 1980, and later attended the Susquehanan Job Corps Center in Port Deposit, Md, where she received many achievement awards during her stay. They were so impressed with her after graduating they hired her to work in their educational and vocational department. Mrs. Smith then became employed by the U.S. government as an administrative personnel employee on Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md for many years. She then became a residential counselor at the Seaford House. Mrs. Smith later volunteered at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital for many years. Mrs. Smith was a faithful member of the Macedonia A.M.E. senior, youth, gospel, mass choirs and women's ministry. She was also a member of the Vernon Sewell Ensemble, sussex mass and soul generation choirs. She was an avid Bible reader, music was her life, she loved to collect music, read boos, crochet and do crossword puzzles. One of her favorite past times was playing Bejeweled 2 on the computer, another was babysitting and watching old movies. Most of all with a valiant heart and spirit she focused on her first love, gospel music which also consisted of her composing her own music. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Monroe and Mary Lee Smith; and an aunt, Gale Winder. She leaves to cherish her mother, Rosemary Martin; three brothers, Glen (Tamala), Dale (Beatrice), and Stanley (Chaquette); two sisters, Faith (Robert) Dillon and Mona (Frederick) Abbott; one aunt, Phyllis Newton; seven uncles, William, Roy, Boyd (Greta), Don (Stella), and Bruce, all of New Jersey, Ricky of Seaford, and Monroe "Mark" Smith of Salisbury, Md.; two stepsons, Charles Jr. and Richie Smith of Maryland; a loving dad, Lewis Smith of Churchville, Md.; a very special niece, Dana Louise Smith; special friends, Edwina Barnes, Blanche Hayes, Henry Wilson, and Henry Fields; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, cousins, and family. Viewing services will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday in Macedonia A.M.E. Church, North Street, Seaford. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in the Citadel of Hope, Concord Road, Concord, where friends may call two hours prior. Interment will be in Macedonia Cemetery, Chandler Street, Seaford.
