Gilbert Elmore Rowe, 86

MOUNT HOLLY, N.J. - Gilbert Elmore Rowe of Mount Holly, formerly of Camden, Del., passed away Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, in Virtua Health and Rehab, Mount Holly. He was 86.

Mr. Rowe was born Dec. 16, 1921, in Willis Wharf, Va., son of the late George Clarence and Lillian (Birch) Rowe.

He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Mr. Rowe had worked as an automobile mechanic for Matthews Motor Co. in Dover, Del.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and woodworking.

Mr. Rowe was a member of AARP and the Loyal Order of the Moose, and a former member of the Camden-Wyoming Lions Club and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Grace Marjorie Rowe, Feb. 11, 2007; and three brothers, Eugene Rowe, Charles Rowe and George Clarence Rowe Jr.

He is survived by a stepdaughter, Betty Ann (Clute) Cella, and her husband, Carmen, of Lumberton; a granddaughter, Marlane DeMara, and her husband, Philip of Lumberton; four great-grandchildren; and several cousins.

Services and burial will be announced at a later date.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Samaritan Hospice, 5 Eves Drive, Suite 300, Marlton, NJ 08053-3101.
