DOVER - Geraldine "Jerry" Eva LeBlond passed peacefully at home on Friday, July 10, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Middletown, Conn., she was the daughter of the late George and Bridgette (Mack) Walton and sister of the late Lucille (Walton) Kiely. She is survived by her daughter, Larraine LeBlond of Mount Prospect, Ill., and her son, Jerome LeBlond and daughter-in-law, Joan Wainwright, of Baltimore, Md., as well as many friends, especially in the Dover area. Jerry moved to Dover in the late 1950s with her family and worked for the Caesar Rodney School District cafeteria system for 4 years. She is best known as the "woman behind the counter" at the Dover Hardware store where she worked for 33 years. Customers will remember her for her quick smile and easy laugh. Her many creative hobbies included sewing, quilting, oil painting, gardening, cooking and baking and later collecting flamingos for her yard. Visitors to her home rarely left without fresh baked goods. A celebration of Jerry's life will be held at a later time. Those who wish may send contributions in her memory to the Food Bank of Delaware, 104 Mattlind Way, Milford, Delaware 19963. Letters of condolence may be sent and guest book signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
