Gerry's journey began on May 18, 1933 in Port Huron, Michigan surrounded by the love of his parents, Edwin and Grace, his sisters, Marion, Joyce, and Karen, and his youngest brother, Edward.
Upon graduating high school, Gerry enlisted in the Air Force where he became a master aircraft electrician for over 24 years and served his country with great honor and pride. Gerry was transferred to Dover Air Force Base. While stationed at DAFB Gerry told his friend Hopper he was looking for a date. Hopper's girlfriend, Ruth, said she had a cousin that she could fix him up with. Gerry went on a blind date with Mary Ann Scotton who became the love of his life. Three months later on January 28, 1956 they were married. From that love came four sons, Mikell, Dennis, Glen, and Robert who made them the proudest grandparents and great-grandparents ever.
Gerry always loved his family unconditionally. He was a no-nonsense father that stood by his family through thick and thin. Always the jokester, telling funny stories, sharing his adventures of life. He loved to fish, create woodworking projects, travel, camp at Leisure Point with his furbaby Lucky, visit with his family and friends, and go dancing every weekend with the love of his life. They could definitely cut a mean rug!
Gerry loved to devil and tease. The more he teased you the more he loved you, but he would never say the words I love you. So, Gerry's last words to all his family and friends won't be I love you, it will be Merry Christmas!
Service and burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the SPCA in Camden, Del. in his name.
