George W. 'Buddy' Marvel Jr., 73
SNOW HILL, Md. - George W. "Buddy" Marvel Jr., passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2007, in Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. He was 73.
He was born May 6, 1933, in Chester, Pa., son of the late George W. Sr. and Effie Mary (Smith) Marvel.
Mr. Marvel was formerly of Little Creek, Del. He was an Army veteran and attended Mount Olive United Methodist Church. He worked as a truck driver for Masten Transportation in Milford, Del. He also worked for the Rehoboth Beach (Del.) Police Department, Golden Pride and had various other jobs.
George is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Della Faye Marvel of Snow Hill; a son, Audie L. Marvel and his wife Lisa of Snow Hill; a daughter, Penny Thomason of Dover; six grandchildren, Crystal Taylor and her husband John, Tina Marvel, George Edward "Eddie" Thomas Marvel, Suzanne Durham, Kathy Moyer and Jonathan McClements; several great-grandchildren, as well as one great grandchild on the way; his mother-in-law, Ennis Adkins of Snow Hill; two sisters, Anna Mae Sherman of Little Creek, and Margaret Marker of Dover, Del.; several nieces and nephews; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John Wesley Marvel and Frederick C. Marvel Sr.; and a sister, Dorothy Grow.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 3 p.m. in Bates Memorial United Methodist Church in Snow Hill. Family and friends may call at the church from 2 to 3 p.m. Interment will follow the services at Bates Cemetery.
Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home, Delmar.
