George Van Horn Stevenson

Dover - George Van Horn Stevenson, Jr. passed away Sunday, Aug. 19, 2018, in Kent General Hospital.
George was born Dec. 25, 1945, in Woodbury, N.J., to the late George and Elizabeth (Born) Stevenson. He worked as a supervisor for South Jersey Industries, for 38 years before retiring in 2005. He had also worked as a blacksmith, and butcher in the meat department at I.G.A.
In his free time, George enjoyed many outdoor activities, photography, and fishing; but his favorite was spending time with his family, friends, and neighbors, showing off his great dry sense of humor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Betsy Stevenson and Janet Tyler.
George is survived by his wife of 27 years, Susan (Pierson) Stevenson; his children, Anita Stevenson, of Franklinville, N.J. ; George Van Horn Stevenson, III and wife, Jennifer, of Marietta, Ga.; and Bonnie Marshall and husband, Dave, of Malaga, N.J.; two brothers, Russell Stevenson, of Sewell, N.J. and James Stevenson, of Florida; his sister, Susan Warriner, of Blackwood, N.J.; and his grandchildren, David, Joshua, Chase, Parker, and Elliegh.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 23, 2018, in Pippin Funeral Home, Inc., 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming; where family and friends may view two hours before. Burial will follow in Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
