George R. Moore Sr., 81

BEAR - George R. Moore Sr., of Bear, went to be with the Lord Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, after losing his courageous battle with cancer. He was 81.

Born on Feb. 24, 1926, George was the son of the late Harry and Frances Moore.

George was a dairy and grain farmer on Rockland Farm his entire life.

In 1989, his dairy farm was disbursed.

After this, he was happy on a John Deere tractor helping his dear friend, Philip Proud.

George was active in Interstate Milk Producers, was on the board of Farm Service Agency and Farmers Home Administrations and was a board member of Southern States Co-op Advisory Committee.

He enjoyed many dairy tours with his farmer friends.

George loved all of his family and they all loved "Pop-Pop."

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Florence F. Moore; son, G. Robert Jr. and his wife Karen of Harrington; daughters, Judith M. Hudson and her husband Clifford W. of Harrington and Joyce M. Barczewski and her husband Stan of Elkton, Md.; six grandchildren, Laurie Harrington and her husband Willie, Leslie McClements and her husband Edward, David Hudson and his wife Vicki, Karen McGee and her husband Michael, Mark Robert Barczewski and his wife April and Andrew Barczewski; five great-grandchildren, George, Melina, Raymond, Nikolas and Zachary; a brother, William H. Moore and his wife Dolly of Millsboro; many nieces and nephews; and many good friends.

George did not know a stranger.

He will be greatly missed.

A special thank you goes to Dr. David Biggs and the entire staff at Helen F. Graham Center.

Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing in celebration of George's life from 10 a.m. to noon Friday in Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 3135 Summit Bridge Road, Bear, where a funeral service will follow at noon.

Interment will immediately follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park.

Instead of flowers, contributions can be made to Cornerstone Senior Center, 3135 Summit Bridge Road, Bear, DE 19701; or The Helen F. Graham Center, 4735 Ogletown-Stanton Road, Newark, DE 19713.
