George H. Giltenboth, 98
George H. Giltenboth of Milford died Monday, March 19, 2007, in Heritage of Milford. He was 98.
Mr. Giltenboth attended the Fine Arts School at Carnegie Institute and the Pittsburgh Musical Institute, as well as the American Business School in New York City.
He and his wife purchased a Milford farm and moved to this area from Pittsburgh in 1941. He had lived on their farm for 65 years. He was blessed by being able to enjoy and independently care for his property up through his 97th year.
He enjoyed music, and continued playing his piano into his recent illness. After years behind tools and farm equipment, he took up his paintbrush, producing many paintings of family and friends, which brought him great pleasure.
Mr. Giltenboth joined the Masons, and maintained a lifetime Masonic membership.
He was preceded in death by his dear wife, Marie, in 1989, and missed her greatly.
He is survived by four daughters and a son-in-law, Martha and Ray Goskowski of Binghamton, N.Y., Nancy Blancé of Milford, Georgia Siena of Jacksonville, Fla., and Gracie Campbell of Portland, Ore.; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Beverly Goskowski, Brenda and Jim Dailey, Raymond and Brook Goskowski, Margaret Crane, Scott Honeychurch, Alan and Pam Honeychurch, Pam and Tom Hess, and Shad Campbell; nine great-grandchildren, Alexander Dailey, James Dailey, Vienna Goskwoski, James Crane, Sam Crane, Kelly Honeychurch, Alan Honeychurch, Erik Hess and Laura Hess; a caring niece and her husband, Donna and Dave Muse; special cousins Al Osterholm and family, and Jon and Kathy Osterholm; good neighbors and friends Phyllis and Bill Fisher, Barbara and Roger Richardson, and Dave Voss; his many valued friends at First Presbyterian Church of Milford, where he worshipped; and the good folks at Milford Senior Center.
A private burial service was conducted Friday by son-in-law Deacon Ray Goskowski. A memorial service is to be held in April, officiated by great-nephew the Rev. Tim Muse.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Delaware Music School, P.O. Box 442, Milford, DE 19963; or the Rehoboth Art League, 12 Dodds Lane, Henlopen Acres, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971; or the "Steeple Fund" of First Presbyterian Church of Milford, 101 S. Walnut St., Milford, DE 19963.
