George Edward Hobbs Sr., 73

MILFORD - George Edward Hobbs Sr., of Milford, died on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008. He was 73.

Born in Greensboro, Md., he was the son of the late Frank and Olive Hobbs.

George was a former president of the Greensboro Fire Co. and the Caroline Fireman's Association.

He was a former Greensboro Town Commissioner and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

George was preceded in death by wives Miriam Steele Hobbs and Mary B. Hobbs; a son, Ronald Hobbs; four sisters; and one brother.

He is survived by two sons, George E. Hobbs Jr. of Jacksonville, N.C., David L. Hobbs of Easton, Md.; four grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Matilda Schrieber of Greensboro, Md.; a stepdaughter, Pam Baynard of Mount Joy, Pa.; and stepsons Grant Bushy of Mount Joy, Pa., and Allen Bushy of Milford.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday in Fleegle & Helfenbein Funeral Home, 106 W. Sunset Ave., Greensboro, with a visitation one hour prior.

Pastor Tina Whaley will officiate.

The Heilig Funeral Home, Mount Joy, and Fleegle & Helfenbein Funeral Home were in charge of arrangements.
