MILFORD - George E. Day died peacefully on May 20, 2018, in Millsboro. George was born in Hillsdale, Mich. to Wilma E. and Luther W. Day, MD on Jan. 28, 1937.
He spent his boyhood in Jonesville, Mich. and graduated from Jonesville Community High School in June 1955. George graduated from Michigan State University in 1959. Upon graduation, he received a commission in the U.S. Army as a 2nd Lieutenant. He served in the military for ten years reaching the rank of Captain, then left to teach history at Milford Senior High School in Delaware. George was an avid reader, a volunteer at the Milford library and a member of the Lions Club and Avenue Methodist Church. He was given the key to the city of Milford for his volunteer work.
He is survived by: two sons, Scott (Deena) and Lance (Kim) from his marriage to Marian Graves; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; his brother, Dr. Stanley G. Day (Sandra); nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother James, and a nephew.
At his request, no funeral services will be held, but a private family memorial will be held in Delaware at a future date.
