George retired as a farmer after 50+ years of farming, though he continued to support his sons in their efforts to carry on the farming legacy.
George was very instrumental in bringing the Ag Program back to the Smyrna School District and starting the FFA program (Future Farmers of America). Until this day the program is a great success. His great granddaughter Brooke Willis holds an office in the chapter.

George enjoyed traveling to Florida, Myrtle Beach, and Rehoboth Beach in his earlier years. He enjoyed his family most along with having a good Manhattan. George was an active parishioner of Asbury United Methodist Church of Smyrna.
