MILFORD - Gary S. Abbott passed away peacefully on August 17, 2015. He was known by all of his friends as "Gator". Gary was born on March 9, 1953 in Milford, Delaware. He graduated from Milford High School Class of 1971. While in high school he was named to All State Soccer as a goalie. He played Men's Modified Fast Pitch Softball for many years with some of his best buds. He was a sports enthusiast and the Philadelphia Eagles have lost one of their biggest fans. He also enjoyed listening and singing to Elvis. In 1998 he married his wife and best friend Kathleen Van Vorst Abbott. Together they had three four legged children: Bonnie, Buck, and Blanche, whom he loved dearly. He retired from Verizon after 36 years of service. Gary lived in and loved Milford all of his life. He leaves to treasure his memories, wife Kathleen, his loving parents Peggy and Robert Abbott, his big brother Dale and his wife Karen, nieces Kasey, Kourtney and Brittney. We would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and doctors at the Milford Center for their compassionate care. Funeral services will be private. Memorial donations can be made to Delaware SPCA, 22918 DuPont Blvd., Georgetown, DE 19947. Arrangements handled by Berry Short Funeral Home.
