Gary Allan Thurlow passed away on Sat., Jun. 6, 2015 following a long illness. Born on Jul. 12, 1955 in Bridgeport, Conn., he lived in numerous places around the United States before settling in the greater Dover area later in life. Predeceased by his father, Robin Truman Thurlow; he is survived by his mother, Marion West Thurlow; his daughter, Deborah Thurlow; his son, Robert Thurlow (Becky); his loving siblings, Laurie Myers and Christopher Thurlow (Adrienne); two nieces, Samantha Thurlow and Dawn Osburn; and two nephews, Brian Osburn (Jamie) and Scott Osburn; and other loving relatives. His family extends heartfelt thanks to caring neighbors and nurses who helped him throughout the past few years. Gary graduated from Concord High School of Wilmington in 1973. Following high school, he joined the U.S. Army and served for the military police in Germany before returning home and receiving a degree in accounting from Wilmington College. After his certification as a CPA, Gary worked at accounting firms auditing many Fortune 500 companies. An avid reader, Corvette enthusiast, animal lover, and militaria hobbyist; Gary was passionate about his interests. A lifelong baseball fan, many of Gary's fondest memories were of playing little league or watching legendary players in at Connie Mack and Veteran's Stadiums. While biting at times, his quick wit will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. A private service will be held for his family and closest friends at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka KS 66675. Letters of condolences can be sent via www.pippinfuneralhome.com
