Gardner Alfred Rogers, 76

SMYRNA - Gardner Alfred Rogers, of Smyrna, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 76.

Mr. Rogers was born in Elizabeth, N.J., on May 10, 1932, to the late Gardner G. and Edna Rogers.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 until 1956.

Mr. Rogers worked for Rollins Truck and Leasing Co., retiring in 1994. He previously worked at the DuPont plant in Seaford for 17 years.

He was an avid bowler and loved working with computers.

Mr. Rogers graduated from Greenwood High School in 1952, and he was a member of the Moose Lodge in Smyrna.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Eleanor Rogers; one daughter, Debbie Johnson of Pennsylvania; four grandchildren; three stepchildren and their spouses, Rene and Major Arnett, Dodi and Phil Craft and Lester Jr. and Norma Lee Bennett, all of Seaford; eight stepgrandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; three siblings, Phyllis Rash Radish of Laurel, Roland L. Rogers of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Janet Garavetto of Prescott, Ariz.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Fleischauer Funeral Home, West Market Street, Greenwood, where friends may call one hour prior to services.

Interment will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Laurel.
