Frederick Wayne Jolly
WYOMING, Del. - Frederick Wayne Jolly passed away at home in Wyoming, Del. on August 18, 2021, in the loving arms of his partner, June Stockton after a 9-month battle with brain cancer. He was a fighter and fought hard to win this battle.
Freddie was born in Smyrna, on June 26, 1947, son of the late Raymond 0. Jolly Sr. and Grace (Pruitt) Jolly.
In his late teens, he began driving a semi- truck over the road. Later he drove dump trucks, worked as a heavy equipment operator, and worked in construction.
He loved working outside. He cut trees making firewood for home as well as to sell. He loved working with wood and tinkering. He was always trying to "make a buck". It was not unusual to find utility trailers he made or three-wheeled bicycles, which he fixed up, for sale in the front yard. The inability to be able to do these things after being diagnosed with brain cancer in November 2020 was the hardest thing for him to deal with.
He loved going to Florida, and he and June would go for 4 weeks at a time in the winter. He loved classic cars and attending car shows. In the six years he showed cars, he showed a 1950 5-window Cheverolet pick-up, a 1952 extended cab, hot rod truck, and his latest and most loved 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air 2-door hard top.
Freddie was a member of the Camden Moose Lodge for over 30 years with his last membership being in the Harrington Lodge. He was also an "honorary" member of the American Legion, Post 7, in Harrington. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond Jr., and Joseph Jolly; and one sister, Pearl Mendoza.
He is survived by his two sisters, Joyce Lopez of Camden and Joan Foveaux of Manhattan, Kansas; his partner and love of his life for the past ten years, June Stockton; and his three goats, three dogs, and two cats, along with a special cousin, Ernie Long, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 24, 2021, 1 p.m at Pippin Funeral Home, in Wyoming, Del. where friends may call after 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow immediately at Camden Odd Fellows Cemetery in Camden. A repast will follow immediately at the Harrington Moose Lodge.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Vitas Hospice Care, 100 Commerce Drive, Suite 302, Newark, DE 19713.
