Frederick Robert Masten Sr.

Masten, Sr., 80 DOVER - Frederick Robert Masten, Sr. passed away Sunday, July 5, 2015 at the Kent General hospital. Mr. Masten was born December 1, 1934 in Dover, Delaware to the late William D. Masten and Elizabeth Donophan Masten. He worked Civil Service as a butcher in the commissary, and also a brick mason at the Dover Air Force Base for 25 years, retiring in 1988. He learned how to butcher meat while working for his in laws store in Woodside. After his retirement he started working for his son, Masten Pools in Greensboro until 2006. Mr. Masten was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints. He served as a missionary with his wife for one year in Vancouver, British Columbia for the church and remained active in church service until he passed. Mr. Masten is survived by his wife of 33 years, Kristina Chylek Masten of Dover; sons, Rob Masten and his wife Amy of Lincoln, DE, Chris Masten and his wife Lisa of Greensboro, MD, Wes Masten and his wife Vikki of Harrington, DE, John Masten and his wife Michelle of Greenwood, DE, Mark Masten and his wife Lisa of Greensboro, MD, Steve Masten and his wife Donna of Wye Mills, MD, Robert Masten and his wife Andrea of Dover, DE; daughters, Marianna Bondurant of Laurel, DE, Patricia Haxton and her husband Jeff of DeCatur, AL and Lorili Semple and her husband Richard of Dover, DE; brothers, Charles Masten and his wife Judy of Harrington, DE, Gene Masten and his wife Frances of Dover,; sisters, Eleanor Eckley and her husband Robert of Rocky River, OH, Dorcus Beuchaw of Yukon, OK, Betty Clay and her husband Claude of Bedford, TX, and Vivian Catatanotto and her husband Vince of Ocean Springs, MS; fifty grandchildren and thirty six great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11AM, Friday, July 10, 2015 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 237 Lebanon Rd, Dover, DE 19901. Interment will be in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica. Letters of condolences may be sent and guest book signed at www.torbertfuneral.com
