CAMDEN - Franklin Robert Bacon passed away on March 7, 2022 at Kent General Hospital.
Mr. Bacon was a warehouseman for Occidental in Delaware City, retiring after 30 years of service. He served in the United States Air Force and later retired as Master Sergeant in the Air Force Reserves. Mr. Bacon was very patriotic, loved his country and enjoyed serving in the military. He was a member of Faith Community Church, where he served as an usher and a deacon. He enjoyed trains, planes, and automobiles; he liked to listen to Gospel hymns and he enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles.
Mr. Bacon is survived by his wife of 37 years, Juanita; four children, Judy Smith and her husband Craig of Elkton, Md., Wanda M. Bacon of Seaford, Sharon Poisson and her husband Michael of Smyrna and Ken Bacon of Chandler, Ariz.; his step daughters, Judith Dougherty of Clayton, Jeanne Bice of Spokane, Wash. and Tamera J. Fahrner of Wilmington; his sister, Phyllis Simpkins and her husband Larry of Smyrna; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; five step grandchildren; and two step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Annabelle Appenzeller.
A funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Faith Community Church, 2240 S. DuPont Parkway, Dover, DE 19901 where there will be a viewing from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.
