DOVER - Franklin H. Smyser, Jr. passed away, Friday, July 7, 2023, at home.
Mr. Smyser was born December 2, 1934, in Shermans Dale, Pennsylvania to the late Franklin H. Smyser, Sr. and Hazal Fitting Smyser.
He served in the United States Air Force. Mr. Smyser worked in the construction and agriculture field where he was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed tinkering and modifying things around the house and was quite the handyman. Mr. Smyser also enjoyed boating and offshore fishing, traveling with his wife, and spending time with his family. Mr. Smyser also enjoyed flea marketing (which is how he met his wife), motorcycles and trikes and going to bike rallies. He was a deeply religious man and a good loving man and father.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert A. Smyser; and his granddaughter, Melony R. Smyser.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Emmalyne Rodgers Smyser of Dover; children, William Smyser of Carlisle, PA, Valerie S. Clark of Shippensburg, PA, Frank H. Smyser, III and his wife Lisa of Calisle, PA, Shella R. Tribbitt of Felton, Charlotte M. Fisher and her husband Kenneth, J. David Farmer all of Newville, PA and Richard L. Farmer and his wife Marsha of Harrisburg, PA; sisters, Hazel Amanda Smyser and Martha Dick; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild; and his two cats, Candi and Patti.
Graveside services will be held 1PM, Friday, July 21, 2023, at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE 19966.
