Frank Micale Sr., 88
DOVER - Frank Micale Sr., died Wednesday, July 1, 2009, in his home. He was 88. Mr. Micale was born April 22, 1921 in Anita, Pennsylvania, to the late Pietro Micale and Mary Mazza Micale. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Micale graduated from Rutgers University with an accounting degree. He worked as an Accounting Manager for Benzol Products in Piscataway, N.J. After moving to Delaware in 1953, he began working for Playtex International as the director of administration and controller, retiring in 1983. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Dover and was a Class C Baseball player for Highland Park Red Birds. Mr. Micale was an avid dancer, belonging to the Dover Ballroom Dance Club and Levi and Lace Square Dance Club. He also enjoyed bowling, oil painting, photography, traveling the world and was fluent in Italian. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Rosalie Micale on April 3, 1998; his son, Frank Micale Jr.; and his grandson, Nicholas (Nick) Micale on Oct. 18, 2008. He is survived by his son, Thomas A. Micale and his wife Kathy of Dover; his daughter-in-law, Karen Micale of Wilmington; two grandchildren, Christopher and Lauren Micale of Wilmington; his brother, Joseph Micale of New Jersey; and his sister, Edith Sutton of Florida. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 9 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2009 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State Street, Dover. Interment will be at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to American Heart Association, Kent County Division, 1151 Walker Road, Suite 202, Dover, DE 19904; or the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720.
