DOVER - Frank Arnold Clements, Jr. passed away on Monday, May 29, 2017.
Frank was born on Dec. 28, 1937, in Shreveport, La. to the late Frank A. Clements, Sr. and Bertha Humphries Clements.
Shortly after joining the U.S. Army, he found and married the love of his life, Carolyn; they were married for 58 years. He proudly served for 22 years in the Army, stationed in various places, including Italy, Vietnam and Germany. He then retired but began another career as a civil servant for the Department of the Navy, in Virginia for 20 years. He was a life member and past master of Mariner (Warwick) Masonic Lodge No. 336 AF&AM, in Newport News, Va.
Frank was very devoted to his family and quite proud of his three children. After living in Newport News, Va. for more than 40 years, he moved to Delaware. He eventually settled in the Camden area where he served as his neighborhood's "Host" of the front porch gatherings. He always made everyone feel welcomed and respected their conversations.
Frank is survived by his wife, Carolyn White Clements; daughters, Judith Carole Novak (husband, Edward), of Baltimore, Md., and Sandra Leigh Clements-Owens (husband, James), of Menifee, Calif.; grandchildren, Michelle Clements-Pitstick and Courtney Montgomery; and five great grandchildren; sisters, Lucille Keith, Christine Adkinson; and brother, Billie Ray Clements (wife, Lenore); sisters-in-law, Sharon Kay Duck (late husband, Ron) and Cynthia Mazur (husband, Ken); as well as many nieces and nephews; and his Nicewood Drive (Newport News, Va.) and Longacre community extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Delbert Wayne Clements; brother, Rubin Wayne Clements; sister-in-law, Barbara South; niece, Sheryl Lynn Tilghman; and dear friends Mozelle (Fuzzy) and Howard Rankin.
A viewing will be held Sunday, Jun. 4, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover. A Service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Jun. 5, 2017, at Tolbert's followed by burial at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery in Millsboro with military honors.
Frank's family wish to extend their sincere appreciation to his many health care providers, but particularly, to the 4th floor nursing staff at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital in Dover and Drs. Brown, Dammert, and Singh.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to American Heart Association or National Kidney Foundation, to support cures for illnesses that the family experienced.
Letters of condolences may be sent and guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
