MILLINGTON, Md. - Florence Everett Stevens, of Millington, died on Saturday May 2, 2009, in the Chester River Hospital Center, Chestertown. She was 85. Mrs. Stevens was born in Queen Anne's County Maryland the daughter of the late Louis and Blanche Wiggins Everett. Mrs. Stevens was a retired School Bus Contractor, serving the Kent County Maryland Public School system for 30 years. Mrs. Stevens was very active in the Asbury United Methodist Church where she was a member and the United Methodist Women. She also was an active member of the Millington Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. Obviously, Mrs. Stevens enjoyed volunteering in her community, she loved working in her yard and her flowers. For many years she also enjoyed traveling with friends. Mrs. Stevens was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas F. Stevens; and a son, Charles David Stevens; and one brother. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Millie M. Stevens of Kennedyville; sister, Dorothy Cronshaw of Sudlersville; and one brother, Calvin Everett of Dover, Del.; and three very special nieces. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 5 in the Fellows Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, 370 W. Cypress St., Millington, where friends and family may call one prior. Interment will be in the Asbury Cemetery, Millington. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in her memory to the Asbury United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 187, Millington, MD 21651; or the Millington Volunteer Fire Co., P.O. Box 255, Millington, MD 21651.
