Fannie Mae Williamson, 68
GREENWOOD - Fannie Mae Williamson of Greenwood peaceably went from labor to reward Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, at Christiana Care-Christiana Hospital, Newark. She was 68.
She was born July 20, 1939, daughter of the late Samuel Rush and Lizzie Mae Shine in Braggs, Ala.
"Miss Fannie Mae," as she was affectionately called, was raised by her grandparents, Hester and Samuel Shine.
She went to grade school in Alabama before moving to Florida to finish high school.
Fannie met and later married Landy Williamson Sr. Together, they moved to Delaware and from this union came four children: Landy Jr., Gwendolyn, Darlene and Diane.
She was most rewarded by, remembered and respected for her hand in helping to raise many children in the Greenwood-Bridgeville area through her home day-care center, and later as an employee of the Bridgeville Head Start Program until 1985, when she was disabled as a result of a car accident.
Fannie was a faithful member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where served on different committees and choirs for nearly 40 years. She was known for her ability to sing and everyone loved to hear her sing, "Joy of My Salvation."
She loved anyone and everyone and touched the hearts of many.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Landy Sr.; her son, Landy Jr.; one sister-in-law, Josephine Benton; and two brothers-in-law, Melvin Benton and John Simon.
She leaves to celebrate her memory three daughters, Gwendolyn Williamson, Darlene McRae and Diane (Clement) Patterson; two sisters, Earlene Shine and Frances Simon; 12 grandchildren, Landy III, Jesse, LeFeisha, Demetria, Latoya, Aaron, Quintella, Clishona, Lionel, Lavaris, Natosha and Jasmere; 11 great-grandchildren; one uncle, Robert Shine; one sister-in-law, Catherine (Woodrow) Hicks; four daughters of love, Alberta, Allison, Nicole and Monica; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Bridgeville.
Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Middleford.
Arrangements by Young & McPherson Funeral Home, Milford.
