SARASOTA, Fla. - Evelyn Dowling of Sarasota, Fla., died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007, in Kensington Manor Nursing Home. She was 84.
Mrs. Dowling was born March 17, 1923, in LaGrange, Ill., to William and Lela Peterson.
She married Vernon Franklin Dowling on Sept. 24, 1945, in LaGrange.
Mrs. Dowling was a homemaker and also was the Christian education secretary at the Community Presbyterian Church in Clarendon Hills for many years.
Upon retirement, she moved to Sarasota.
She volunteered weekly at the developmental preschool at Children"s Haven and was a member of the Sarasota Embroiderers Guild.
Mrs. Dowling had resided at Kensington Manor for the past six years due to declining health.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Carol Hanson of Pierre, S.D., and Diane and her husband Donald Podolak of rural Princeton, Ill.; one sister, Maryon Ferguson of Eugene, Ore.; two grandsons, Casey and his wife Jenny Hanson of Brookings, S.D., and Skylar and his wife Jen Hanson of Apple Valley, Minn.; two great-grandsons, Chandler Hanson and Riley Hanson of Brookings; and nieces and nephews in Hawaii, Oregon, Rockford, Ill., and Chestertown, Md.
Cremation rites were accorded.
Burial and services will 11 a.m. Nov. 3 in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Rock Hall, Md.
