DELMAR - Ethel M. Anderson of Delmar passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2007, in the Delmar Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was 84.
She was born June 25, 1923, in Cambridge, Md., the daughter of the late Benjamin T. and Sarah Jackson Waller.
Mrs. Anderson had been employed by Vlassic Pickle Co. in Millsboro for many years.
She was a faithful member and one of the original founders of St. Matthews First Baptist Church in Laurel, where she served as president of the Missionary Board, Minister of Church, a member of St. Matthews Senior Choir, past president of the Pastor"s Aide Committee, and past president of the Kitchen Committee.
Mrs. Anderson was also a member of the Sussex Mass Choir.
She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Douglas Townsend and Patrick Dodson; and three brothers, Andrew Waller, Edward Waller and Herbert Waller.
She is survived by her husband of over 40 years, Cornelius Nathaniel Anderson; five children, Barbara Dodson of Washington, Gregory Stevenson of Dallas, N.C., Pete Anderson of Smyrna, George Anderson, and Gary Anderson, both of Laurel; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; five siblings, Eleanor Waller, Linwood Waller, Howard Waller, David Waller, and James Waller; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in St. Matthews First Baptist Church in Laurel, where friends may call two hours prior. Interment will follow in St. Matthews Cemetery.
Friends may also call at the church from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.
The Rev. Nathan McCoy will officiate.
