Dr. Ernest M. 'Toby' Larmore Jr., 84

DELMAR - Dr. Ernest M. "Toby" Larmore Jr. of Delmar died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006, in his home. He was 84.

Dr. Larmore was born Dec. 11, 1921, in Tyaskin, Md., son of the late Ernest M. Larmore Sr. and Mattie Culver Larmore.

He was a 1938 graduate of Nanticoke High School, a 1942 graduate of Washington College Chestertown and received a doctorate in medicine from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, in 1945. He interned at Church Home Hospital, Baltimore.

Dr. Larmore served in the Army Air Corps for two years as a captain.

After leaving the Army Air Corps, he was a resident at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown, Md., where he met his wife, Clara Etta Herbert.

Dr. Larmore began his general practice in Delmar in 1949 and retired in 1992.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Clara Etta Larmore; a sister and a brother-in-law, Sara Lee and Donald Brohawn of Tyaskin; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Stacey and Ian Whiteman of Spain, Dana Banziger of Reston, Va. and Suzy and Bill Skidmore of Dayton, Va.; three sons and two daughters-in-law, David and Jo Anne Larmore of Laurel and Steven and Virginia Larmore of Florida and Todd Larmore of Laurel; nine grandchildren, David "Toby", Kate, Medina, Hanna, Brittany, Max, Molly Clare, Hans, and Sam; two step-grandsons, Mohammed and Zack; a step-great-grandson, Eddie; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday in St. Stephens United Methodist Church on State Street in Delmar. The Rev. Marsha Carpenter will officiate.

Fellowship luncheon will follow in Camelot Hall, at the church.

Burial will be private.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Stephens United Methodist Church, 101 E. State St., Delmar, DE 19940; or Tyaskin United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 72, Tyaskin, MD 21865; or Delmar Volunteer Fire Department Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 143, Delmar, DE 19940.
